For my next foray into the goofy, zany world of Junk rares, I’m going to be looking at Norin The Wary (.15 Tix). This deck/idea/article was suggested by alpha_centauri1.
At .15 of a ticket a piece Norin seems like quite the bargain for a rare, but as most of the cards I’ll be covering will fall into this category I’m sure. Lets look at what we get for our .15, shall we?

Now a 2/1 for just a one mana investment doesn’t sound that bad at all, but this poor old guy just runs away whenever something potentially harmful happens. So the big question becomes how to exploit this? One of the best ways to exploit a creature that comes and goes nearly every turn has to be Pandemonium (.90 Tix). It’s an enchantment that says whenever any creature comes into play it gets to deal damage equal to it’s power to any creature or player. With this in play Norin can essentially become a recurring Shock every turn.
If we’re going to be abusing the comes into play ability of Norin we probably should of some other creatures as well, and with that in mind we should also use Momentary Blink(.12 Tix). Another neat trick is going to abuse the new evoke elementals with momentary blink and Vedalken Mastermind (.5 Tix). With the evoke sacrifice on the stack you can either Blink the creature and it is no longer eligible for the sacrifice or you can bounce it back to your hand with the Mastermind.

As you can see this was a very cheap deck to put together, and I already had most of the cards lying around in my binder from building other decks. The biggest things I had to go and buy were the Norins and Pandemoniums. The reason for a card as goofy as Dandan is that it has a nice big power for a cheap cost, and should never be played without Pandemonium in play, that is also the same reason Ǽthersnipe is in there, plus with the snipe you get a bounce effect.
The deck runs fairly well on first few trial runs. The one thing I thought was going to be the biggest problem, finding a Pandemonium, wasn’t as bad as I first anticipated. The biggest problem that did come up though was the fact that my pandemonium seemed to keep coming back to hurt me more often than I liked, but I guess that is to be expected with such a card. Norin, just like I anticipated was very fun when he and Pandemonium hit together, as a Shock every turn (yours and your opponent’s most turns) can be very annoying.
Tweaks I would make to the deck would be adding 2 more Vedalken Masterminds to more easily abuse the Evoke creature’s abilities. If you wanted to splash more white you could add Soul Warden (.25 Tix) to gain life off of the creatures repeatedly coming into play. Another way to splash some more white would be any cards that prevent damage like Holy Day (.3 Tix).
